A monster who has committed multiple rapes, sexual assaults and acts of violence over a span of nearly 20 years has been convicted of multiple offenses by the High Court in Edinburgh.
Garry Martin, 51, of Kirkcaldy, was convicted after a trial that ended on Monday, November 22.
The series of charges against Martin include rape, obscene, indecent and libidinous practices and behavior, indecent assault, kidnapping, assault and cruelty to animals.
Victims of its litany of crimes, committed between 1995 and 2012, included a number of women and children.
Fife Police welcomed the conviction after a successful investigation.
Detective Constable Mhairi Best of the Infant Child Abuse Investigation Team said: âMartin terrorized the women and children he abused for 17 years and to this day , he showed no remorse or understanding of the consequences of his despicable behavior. .
âMy thoughts are with the victims and their families.
âThis conviction recognizes the gravity of Martin’s crimes and the courage of his victims to testify. This condemnation is the direct result of their testimony.
“They showed immense courage in reporting these crimes, so Martin is now held accountable for his actions.
“I hope his conviction will give them some comfort and that they can try to move on with their lives.”
The Detective Officer hopes that Martin’s conviction will signal to others that abusive behavior will not be tolerated and that he will be prosecuted with the full force of the law.
She added: ‘This was a complex investigation and should serve as an indication that anyone responsible for such crimes will be relentlessly prosecuted by the Scottish Police and brought to justice.
âWe urge anyone wishing to report any abuse to come forward. No matter how much time has passed, they can rest assured that they are fully supported by agents and our partner agencies.
Martin is to be sentenced on December 21.
