NDLEA Raids Lagos Island Drug Den, Arrests Suspected Kingpin, 6 Others


Feb. 27 (THEWILL) — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of a female drug kingpin, Mrs. Sherifat Kehinde Lawal, who operates the notorious drug haven drug from Patey Lagos Island, State.

The agency, which arrested Ms Lawal along with six other suspects, also recovered 5,862 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs, including Loud and codeine in Saturday’s raid.

A statement from Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said: “Following credible intelligence and follow-up monitoring of illicit drug trafficking in Osho, Gambari and Beecroft streets in the Patey area On the island of Lagos, anti-narcotics officers stormed the drug lord’s Gambari Street base, where they arrested her and six of her accomplices at 9.30am on Saturday February 26.

“Other cartel members operating in the axis, however, mobilized thugs who attacked the officers with rocks, bottles and guns in an effort to prevent the officers from arresting other marked kingpins for arrest as well as taking suspects already caught and drug exposures one way.

“The officers were able to defend themselves tactically, took away the suspects and the exhibits.

“Other suspects held with Ms. Lawal include Ahmed Yisau; Solomon Alape; Olayemi Akinola; Qudus salami; Bakare Rafiu; Rose Samson; Yusuf Rofiat and Chukwudi Egon.

“In his reaction to the development, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retired), congratulated the officers and men of the Agency Command in Lagos for the success of the operation. He warned those used by drug cartels to obstruct or attack anti-narcotics agents in the course of their work to refrain or face dire consequences.
