PHCC organizes oral health awareness campaign

As part of the celebration of Oral Health Awareness Month in September by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) hosted a series of health and education events aimed at raising awareness of oral health. among all segments of society, including school children, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Head of Preventive Oral Health at PHCC, Dr Najat Al Yafei stressed the need to take good care of oral health, because the mouth is the first gateway to many diseases: it is a place where germs (viruses and bacteria) congregate. . Therefore, good oral hygiene prevents various illnesses, especially other physical illnesses related to gingivitis, she added.

She noted the need for concerted efforts by all to maintain oral health, welcoming the cooperation between the Primary Health Care Society and the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. in this regard.

Among the outreach activities and events organized by the PHCC were a conference titled “Don’t Make Your Mouth a Gateway to Diseases”, and another titled “Bad Oral Habits and Their Effects on the Teeth and Jaws” by Dr Amal Al Wadia, dentist at PHCC Al Waab Health Center, added Dr Al Yafei.

She also pointed out that the purpose of delivering such lectures and messages by PHCC as part of its various oral and dental events is to educate members of society, and thus achieve decay free teeth and healthy gums.
