SPEZIA, Italy, November 30, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Spezia Calcio players wore special shirts in Sunday’s Serie A game against Bologna to raise awareness and raise funds for a campaign against gender-based violence. The social responsibility campaign was created by the Serie A club and Differenza Donna, an NGO that operates nationally and internationally, denouncing and preventing gender-based violence.
Serie A club joined Differenza Donna’s fight against violence by launching the #WeForShe campaign alongside the NGO. The wording was chosen to emphasize that only by coming together can people make a real difference and help victims of violence.
The hashtag was printed on the front of the players’ shirts for the Spezia – Bologna Serie A match at Stadio Alberto Picco. These unique shirts will be auctioned off on the “Charity Stars” platform and all proceeds will be donated to Differenza Donna.
Spezia Calcio also welcomed young people Afghan refugee Rahel saya for this match to raise awareness of the plight of many women who do not have the same rights. Rahel is a young girl who escaped from Afghanistan in August and dreams of becoming a journalist, Spezia Calcio welcomed her to their communications team for the day and gave her the opportunity to watch the match in the press box and interview the players. She also met the owner of the club Robert Platek and his wife on the field before the start of the match.
