“TN should analyze the data of PMGKAY beneficiaries”

Chennai, January 4 (IANS): Tamil Nadu should conduct data analysis to ensure that all beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) program receive their fair share, a senior food and distribution department official said.

He also said that the assets of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) should be used at the optimal level under the central government asset monetization program.

In a review meeting with Tamil Nadu officials on Monday, Sudhanshu Pandey, secretary of the Food and Distribution Department, said the state government should undertake data analysis and verify the data. National Food Safety Act (NFSA) card holders clean data. , remove duplicates so that all eligible people benefit from subsidized food grains.

During the review meeting, it was observed that Tamil Nadu needs to speed up its distribution of the full food grain allocation made by the central government.

Pandey appreciated Tamil Nadu’s efforts to achieve certification of 56 out of a total of 58 Tamil Nadu Warehousing Corporation products by the Warehouse Development & Regulatory Authority (WDRA).

Stressing that crop diversification is very important, Pandey also advised formulating policies to encourage farmers to engage in pulse and oilseed cultivation and reduce dependence on imports.

The state can undertake an awareness campaign and help farmers to diversify crops by supporting other crops as well.

According to Pandey, the state government should conduct an awareness campaign among migrants on “a nation ration card” and encourage them to register on the “mera ration” app.

The data collected can be analyzed on various demographic parameters to frame the government’s social protection policies, he added.
